House of Sticks

Inspired by this weeks The Hermitage, I thought a wee bit of pinspiration was in order to end the week!

I have selected some gorgeous images that really display the variety of ways wood can be used in the home, and the various effects it can create. See how the natural colours and textures of wood can add warmth and interest to your home. From Scandi to Rustic, I think I have covered all tastes and styles!

Herringbone parquetry is still my number one obsession… what style do you love the best?

Cutting Edge

Maple Set by The Federal is a one gorgeous prototype.

This set of knives are mainly made from carved Maple wood, finished with a highly polished blade. The contrast of the two materials is at odds, yet they also somehow complement each other to create an object that is visually spectacular. But these pieces aren’t just pretty though, they have been weighted correctly so in use they handle and cut in a way that would impress any culinary genius. The wood has been sealed to ensure longevity and avoid staining from use, and to make cleaning easy.

Listed as in prototype status in 2012, here’s hoping they go into full production some time this year.

Shine On

Metallics are so easy to incorporate into your home. Even the smallest pieces can create a dramatic effect so you can be as bold or subtle as you like with this trend. Below are some inspirational pins to fuel your love of precious metals. Afterall, who doesn’t need a little more sparkle in their life?!

P.S. I love the first image BUT I do spy one of those amazingly gorgeous Handiras or Moroccan Wedding Blanket being used as a bath mat! Picture perfection from the stylist involved but anyone that did this in real life would have to be clinically insane!

Metallics

Metallics is a trend that just seems to keep gathering speed.

Copper has been hot property for a while now but brass is quickly catching up, meanwhile silver is a classic and has always been a popular choice. Recent designs use each of these metals in all their glory and it is hard not to be attracted to these gorgeous shiny objects. This week I’ll share with you some of my most coveted pieces. Metallics, this is your time to shine!

Robin Egg Blue

Robin Egg Blue really is one of those classic colours. The beautiful cool tone of the blue always creates such a fresh, crisp aura in any room to which it is added. Depending on how it is used, Robin Egg Blue can either generate a sense of luxury and glamorous style or rekindle memories of vintage loveliness (That SMEG!!).

I live on the coast, so this colour combined with crisp white is one of my favourite combinations, it just screams beach to me. Below are some stunning inspirational images of various ways to use this classic colour in your home.

Happy Easter everyone, may all your eggs be good ones!
