Arty Farty

All parents will know, with any child comes an endless supply of art. Kids just love getting creative, which is awesome but, what do you do with the ever-growing pile of artworks? Well I want to share with you a couple of really interesting products that celebrate your child’s creativity.

First we have the Lil Davinci Art Gallery by Dynamic Frames. I LOVE this product! The frames are hinged so that they open at the front, this  allows you to constantly change the contents to create an ever evolving gallery wall. Each frame can also store up to 50 pieces of paper, keeping your childs artworks safely stored whilst also clearing space on your kitchen counter. (Everyone has that one section of the kitchen counter that collects paperwork right?!) There are a couple of options in sizes and number of frames to choose from, so please check out their website for all the details.

Now, if there is a drawing that you think is just the coolest, why not immortalize it by having the drawing made into a metal keychain, bookmark or piece of jewellery? Formia Design will take your child’s artwork and transform it into a physical piece made from sterling silver or titanium, how awesome is that!!

Fresh Takes

Well I couldn’t choose between these two items so here they both are!

Behold the cutest darn pencil holder I’ve ever seen, the wooden pencil hedgehog! How cute is it? It holds 24 pencils which become the wee little hedgehogs spikes and would make an adorable addition to any childs room. I desperately want one of these, but it appears they are currently only sold through Japanese company Rakuten. Anyone out there speak Japanese? I may need your help…

All kids love a pillow fight, but DOIY Design have just upped the anti! How fun are these weapon pillows? What a clever, creative way to evolve the age-old pillow fight. I just know my Mr 5 would go crazy over these! So much fun and only $50 for the set. WINNER! Available in Australia through Shop Until.

Geometric patterns are still a huge trend at the moment with hundreds of beautiful faceted designs on the market.

This week I share with you a few pieces that I think are the pick of the crop, easy to work into your home as individual pieces, without the need to totally overhaul your style.

Hope you like my selection!

Kiwi Collaboration

So, it isn’t anything new BUT I am still in awe of the collaboration between Kiwis Douglas & Bec with Kate Sylvester.

With a similar aesthetic in mind, design duo Douglas and Bec teamed up with Fashion Designer Kate Sylvester late last year to release a stunning range of furniture. The pieces combine glossy brass with a subdued blush tone of either American walnut or leather. The colour combination and minimal style of the collection makes them feel almost more like pieces of jewellery, just larger, jewellery for your home, I like that!

I’m not sure if it is the material choice, or the tonal range, but the pieces feel so sophisticated and precious. Add to this the new, super cute, limited edition swan statues and I am a total unabashed fan of this collaboration.

Easter Bunny

Looking for something other than chocolate to give this Easter? Something small and not too expensive?

Bingo! Enter the Qualy Desk Bunny! A very clever, not to mention super cute, functional easter present idea. How inventive is the use of the scissor handles as ears! And what a tidy little friend he will be to your desk top as he holds all your paperclips for you. Buy your very own bunny here or here

This little guy will be a favourite will all ages and best of all, he is guilt (and fat) free!

Teen out of Teen

For the teen girl, think pretty but with a more mature edge.

I fell in love with this bird light recently at Life Instyle, cut from a paper-thin metal sheet it simply fits over a bare bulb (total design brilliance!) The vases are also amazing, you probably cannot tell in the image but they are folded metallic paper that surround an ordinary, everyday drinking glass, ingenious or what?!

Moroccan pouffes are super trendy at the moment and are available in a huge range of fun colours, great comfortable seating for teens to have D&Ms on. Flameless candles means an atmospheric room without any safety concerns, add an arty print with attitude and I think we are on a winner.

And now it is apparent. Clearly I am obsessed with the new Snurk range, there is just too much amazingness in the one place I tell you! So to save me posting every single design they create, I suggest you just check out their site directly. Brilliant, clever design that is totally unique and super fun. I think I want one of each…
